デンマーク出身のシンガー、マルチインストゥルメンタリスト、Anders Lauge MeldgaardによるプロジェクトFrisk Frugt名義による2006年にリリースされたデビューアルバム。

ジャンルやスタイルの境界を軽やかに飛び越え民謡的要素やポエティックな歌詞、即興性の高い演奏をスタイルとし、今作はデンマークの伝統音楽を想起させる旋律、Anders Lauge Meldgaardによるター、サックス、ベース、フルート、ピアノ、パーカッション、ヴォーカルなど多数の演奏のコラージュ、フリージャズ、ドローン、フォークの要素まで行き交うサウンドアート的な側面も。実験精神と自由さ、即興による予測不能さが合わさる、音の冒険的作品。

Debut album released in 2006 under the project name Frisk Frugt, led by Danish singer and multi-instrumentalist Anders Lauge Meldgaard.

The album effortlessly crosses genre boundaries, blending folk-like melodies, poetic lyrics, and highly improvisational performances. Drawing on Denmark’s traditional music, it features a collage of instruments played by Meldgaard himself—including tar, saxophone, bass, flute, piano, percussion, and vocals—while moving fluidly through free jazz, drone, and folk elements. A work of sonic art that combines experimental spirit, freedom, and the unpredictability of improvisation, creating an adventurous listening experience.

『Shaytoon』というタイトルは自身が育った文化的体験や1970年代のイランのポップ、ファンクのレコードへの憧憬を反映しており、70年代のアートワークのように配されたカリグラフィ、人物写真のアルバムジャケットにもその影響が見える。アシッド、エレクトロ、スラッジーなサイケデリア、テクノ的な反復と多彩なエレクトロニック要素が混ざり合い、独自のダンス感が生まれている。文化的ルーツとダンスミュージックの接点を探る挑戦的スタンスの基制作された今作は、過去と現在を繋ぐ、文化的ノスタルジアとエレクトロニックの実験が溶け合っている。

Debut full-length album by Iranian-American DJ and producer Sepehr, released in 2020 on Dark Entries.

Titled Shaytoon, the album reflects Sepehr’s cultural upbringing and his fascination with 1970s Iranian pop and funk records. This influence is also visible in the album artwork, arranged like 1970s designs with calligraphy and portraits. Blending acid, electro, sludgy psychedelia, techno-like repetition, and diverse electronic elements, the record creates a unique sense of dance.

Conceived as an exploration of the intersection between cultural roots and dance music, Shaytoon fuses past and present, combining cultural nostalgia with experimental electronic sounds.

クラシック音楽の訓練を受けたヴァイオリニストでもあり、幼少期から音楽に親しみつつ、独学でビートメイキングを習得した彼による、ヒップホップのビートメイキングを軸に現代的なジャズ感、オルタナティヴR&Bの歌声、ラップのフロウを織り交ぜた多層的構成になっており、Alfa Mist、Blue Lab Beats、Jerome Thomasらが参加し各トラックで色彩豊かなムードが展開。ドイツ・アーヘンを拠点にロンドン、南アフリカなど世界各地のアーティストとのコラボレーションによって制作されたことでひとつの都市圏に縛られない移動感・時間感が曲中に漂う。境界を溶かし、音楽が距離を近づけることを証明しうる、インテリジェンスと新体制の双方を刺激する一枚。

The fourth full-length album by German beat producer and composer FloFilz.

A classically trained violinist who has been immersed in music since childhood, FloFilz later taught himself beat-making. Centered on hip-hop production, the album unfolds as a multi-layered work that weaves together contemporary jazz sensibilities, alternative R&B vocals, and rap flows. Featuring contributions from Alfa Mist, Blue Lab Beats, and Jerome Thomas, each track develops its own richly colored mood.

Created through collaborations with artists from around the world—based in Aachen, Germany, and extending to London and South Africa—the album carries a sense of movement and time that is not bound to any single city. A record that dissolves borders and proves how music can close distances, stimulating both intellect and forward-thinking musical form.

ジャマイカ生まれ、カナダ育ちのSSW、Rupert "Ojiji" Harveyによる1979年リリース作品。11歳の時にジャマイカからカナダへ移住し、カナダで初めてメジャーレーベル契約を果たしたブラックバンドCrack of Dawnとして活躍。その後ソロとして活動を開始し、リリース1枚目となる今作は、プログレッシブジャズ・フュージョンのアレンジに、ソウル、ファンク、そして故郷ジャマイカのレゲエを融合させた傑作。

After moving from Jamaica to Canada at the age of 11, Harvey rose to prominence as a member of Crack of Dawn, a Black band that became one of the first in Canada to sign with a major label. Launching his solo career soon after, this debut solo album stands as a masterpiece, blending progressive jazz-fusion arrangements with soul, funk, and reggae influences rooted in his Jamaican heritage.

今作は全7曲のミニアルバム的構成で、R&Bとソウルをベースにしながら、ファンク、ジャズ、クラシックソウルのテイストが混ざり合い、ファンクやブギーの影響を感じるグルーヴ、柔らかく、かつ芯のある響きのヴォーカルが心地よい。メロウでありながらソウルフル、60〜80年代のクラシックなR&B感を纏い、聴くたびに懐かしさと新しさが交錯する質感の良い一枚。

彼の息子の名前であるMax Brownをアルバムタイトルに冠した今作は、ジャズ、ヒップホップ、アンビエント、エレクトロニクスが境界なく溶け合ったサウンドスタイルで、反復されるギターフレーズ、太くも主張しすぎないベース、生ドラムとプログラミングの曖昧な境界使いでヒップホップ的なビート・ループ感、しかし、呼吸するように少しずつ変化していく。流れていく時間の感覚が静かに寄り添う現代ジャズのひとつの理想形。

Titled after his son, Max Brown, this album moves freely across jazz, hip-hop, ambient, and electronics. Repetitive guitar phrases, a deep but understated bass, and the blurred line between live drums and programming create a hip-hop–like sense of looping beats. The music shifts gradually, almost breathing, as time quietly unfolds.

A contemporary jazz record that feels like one ideal form of the present moment.

2000年にターナー賞を受賞したことでも知られるドイツ出身の写真家Wolfgang Tillmans(ヴォルフガング・ティルマンス)の作品集。

ドイツの出版社「TASCHEN」との協働によってこれまで制作されてきたそれぞれが異なるテンポと視点を持った4冊の書籍を1冊に再編纂した一冊。最初の書籍『WOLFGANG TILLMANS』（1995年）では者自身も属していた1990年代の若い世代の姿がクラブ、ゲイ・プライド、ファッションイベント、日常の場面などを通じて捉えられ、続く『BURG』（1998年）では、主題の幅がさらに広がり、のちに象徴的となるイメージ群が加えられた。『TRUTH STUDY CENTER』（2005年）では、構成がより繊細さを増し、完全に抽象的な作品が並置されるようになり、『NEUE WELT』（2012年）では、ロンドンからティエラ・デル・フエゴ、インド、パプアニューギニア、サウジアラビア、中央アフリカに至るまでの旅路が記録され、人物や市場などから見る社会的状況、テクノロジーや建築、そして自然や天文学への関心が示されており、本書は約30年にわたる作者の制作活動を通じて、現在の我々が置かれている状況を描き出そうとするものである。TASCHENが2025年に創業45周年を迎えたことを記念し、より手に取りやすい新装版として刊行した作品集のシリーズで、作者自身が編集を手がけ、一部を再デザインし、近年の作品に加えて新たな序文を書き下ろしている。

1993年〜2004年に刊行されたUKを代表するエレクトロニック/ダンスミュージック誌であるJockey Slutの創刊者たちにより新たに創刊されたDISCO POGO。Jim Butler(ジム・バトラー)編集長の元、音楽ジャーナリストによる特集、インタビューやエッセイ記事、当時の写真や旧Jockey Slutに掲載されていた記事の再録など読み応え満載な内容を誇る。

今作はJockey Slutから30年以上にわたり関係性を築いてきたAphex Twin(エイフェックス・ツイン)ことRichard D. James(リチャード・D・ジェームス)を特集したトリビュートシリーズ第2弾。表紙にはWolfgang Tillmans(ヴォルフガング・ティルマンス)により撮影された象徴的な写真が飾り、また内容にも世界的な音楽写真家たちによるリチャードの初期のころからの素晴らしい写真たちを大量に収録。最早有名すぎるかのロゴをデザインしたPaul Nicholson(ポール・ニコルソン)、Warp Records、R&S、AphexのレーベルであるRephlex、ファンサイトLanner Chronicleなどのサポートを受け作られた今作、まさに永久保存版Aphex本というに相応しい。
