“Learn To Fly”

80年代初頭にDJとして活動を開始したフィレンツェ生まれのFrancesco Farfa。フィレンツェのレーベルInteractive Testより1991年にリリースされた彼の「Learn To Fly」再発盤。初期プログレ、レイヴ、アシッド、ファンク、ハウス以前のアーリーテクノから、イタリアンハウスの楽観さなどを孕み、決まったジャンルやレッテルを嫌った彼らしいジャンルレスな作品。

Born in Florence, Francesco Farfa began his career as a DJ in the early 1980s. This is a reissue of "Learn To Fly", originally released in 1991 on the Florence-based label Interactive Test.

The record reflects Farfa’s genre-defying approach, drawing from early progressive sounds, rave, acid, funk, pre-house early techno, and the optimistic spirit of Italian house. Unwilling to be confined by fixed genres or labels, "Learn To Fly" stands as a characteristically open and genreless work.

2025年で同シリーズ30周年の節目を飾る、ベルリンを拠点とする老舗名門レーベル!K7の名シリーズ「DJ-Kicks」より、バンクーバー拠点のDJ、プロデューサーJayda Gが担当の一枚。Ninja TuneからリリースされたEP『Both Of Us』がグラミー賞2020年最優秀ダンス・レコーディング賞にノミネートされるなど、Pitchfolkをはじめとして各メディア絶賛の彼女。曰く「このLPを通して、80年代のディスコソウル、ジャズファンクと現代のディープハウス、電子音楽の橋渡しをするような構成を意図しているそうで、The Light Of The Worldの「London Town」から幕開け、Fred againやDJ BORINGなどのクラブチューンから生音系まで、ジャンルレスに移りゆくミックスが素晴らしい。

Marking the 30th anniversary of the long-running DJ-Kicks series in 2025, this installment comes from Berlin-based veteran label !K7 and is curated by Vancouver-based DJ and producer Jayda G.

Widely acclaimed by media including Pitchfork, Jayda G gained major attention when her Ninja Tune EP "Both Of Us" was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2020 Grammy Awards. She has stated that this mix is intended to bridge ’80s disco soul and jazz-funk with contemporary deep house and electronic music.

Opening with The Light Of The World's "London Town," the mix moves seamlessly and genre-free between club-focused tracks by artists such as Fred again and DJ BORING, and more organic, live-instrument-driven sounds, resulting in an outstanding and fluid journey.

サンパウロのアンダーグラウンドミュージックシーンの重要人物でマルチ奏者、プロデューサー、DJのZopelarによるApron Recordsから3枚目のソロリリース作品。2020年〜2025年にかけてサンパウロにて制作されたトラック群を収録しており、「retro-futuristic-funky-groovy」と形容される彼のスタイルでもってダウンテンポ、ハウス、R&B、ディープハウスをベースにしながらフューチャリスティックな独自のグルーヴを展開。ネオR&B風のメロウなムードでフィーチャリングのAshiraの歌声との調和が美しい「We Can Make It」、ディープハウス的テンポと柔らかなシンセサウンドが心地よい「Back And Forth」、フランス生まれでブラジルを拠点に活動するL'Homme StatueとアムステルダムのRetromigrationをフィーチャーした「Je t’aime」など、個々の楽曲がそれぞれのカラーを持ちながら温かみのある質感で統一されている。

An important figure in São Paulo’s underground music scene, Zopelar is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ. This is his third solo release on Apron Records.

The album compiles tracks produced in São Paulo between 2020 and 2025, showcasing his signature style often described as “retro-futuristic-funky-groovy.” Drawing from downtempo, house, R&B, and deep house, the record unfolds a futuristic and highly personal sense of groove.

Highlights include “We Can Make It,” where a neo-R&B-influenced mellow mood blends beautifully with the featured vocals of Ashira; “Back And Forth,” a smooth, deep-house-leaning track with a comfortable tempo and soft, inviting synth textures; and “Je t’aime,” featuring France-born, Brazil-based L’Homme Statue alongside Amsterdam’s Retromigration.

While each track carries its own distinct character, the album is unified by a warm, cohesive sonic texture throughout.

複数のプロデューサーが参加し、硬質でフロア向け、現行のアンダーグラウンド・テクノの潮流を捉えながらも、ダブ、変則リズム、トランシーな上物などでジャンル横断する自由さも持ちあわせる。ソリッドで機械的なトラックから煙たい低重心のトラックまで、これからのレーベルの行く末を指し示す名刺代わりのコンピレーション。

Released on Casa Voyager, the Casablanca-based label run by Moroccan artist Driss Bennis under his alias OCB. Inspired by French philosopher Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulacra, the record reinterprets old-school techno and electro through Bennis’s own aesthetic, offering a fresh take on 909-driven rhythms, multilayered sonic transformations, and abstract reconstruction. While deeply conceptual in nature, the release remains firmly dancefloor-oriented, delivering a direct and physical club experience.
