Chemical Brothers(ケミカル・ブラザーズ)のTom Rowlandsによる最新ソロEP。彼によるソロリリースは2013年リリースの『Through Me / Nothing But Pleasure』以来。A面の「We Are Nothing」はカナダのアウトサイダー詩人Bill Bissettの存在主義的フレーズを軸に、アシッドライン、ソウルの断片、アナログエフェクトが交錯しハウス、サイケデリックな音像がレイヤー。B面の「All Night」は反面、テンポを上げUKレイヴ、アシッドハウスなムードのジャングルチューンで90'sの熱気がムンムンの破裂感と疾走感の爆発トラック。自身におけるクラブミュージックの原点を探訪しつつ現代のエレクトロニックミュージックへ昇華する、A面B面と対照的な2曲が流石の完成度の高さを誇る。

The latest solo EP by Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers, marking his first solo release since “Through Me / Nothing But Pleasure” in 2013.

On the A-side, “We Are Nothing” is built around existential phrases by Canadian outsider poet Bill Bissett, as acid lines, fragments of soul, and analog effects intertwine to form a layered soundscape that moves fluidly between house and psychedelic textures. In contrast, the B-side “All Night” accelerates the tempo into a jungle-driven track steeped in the spirit of UK rave and acid house, bursting with the explosive energy and forward momentum that evoke the heat of the 1990s at full throttle.

Together, these two contrasting tracks—one introspective and immersive, the other visceral and propulsive—demonstrate Rowlands’ exceptional craftsmanship. By revisiting the roots of his relationship with club music and elevating them through a contemporary electronic lens, the EP achieves a striking balance of reflection and exhilaration, attesting to its remarkable level of completion and artistic vision.
